Tom specializes in making strength training for swimmers and triathletes an enjoyable experience.   Strength training is an important part of the training regimes of the best swimmers and triathletes in the world. Stronger muscles will allow you to generate more force with each stroke, pedal, or stride—likely making you faster.  In addition, strengthening your muscles will reduce the chance of injury.

Tom swam competitively at Oshkosh North High School — yes, there really is an Oshkosh — as well as at the University of Wisconsin. After a long hiatus, Tom began Masters swimming in 1990 and coaching soon after. He enjoys working with swimmers and triathletes of all levels.  He does his best to keep the training sessions enjoyable and lively!

Tom received his Level 1 and 2 American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) certifications in 2013.  That same year he was awarded Potomac Valley Masters Swimming’s Outstanding Mentor of the Year.
